As a student teacher who is inconsistently in the classroom, maintaining a classroom demeanor that demands respect is very difficult (especially when I am only about 8 years apart from my students…)
I have one student who loves to backtalk only when I am in charge, which sends the class spiraling out of focus. The teachers say I will get a handle on how to handle her when I am there more often, but as for now it is not going well and I feel like 4th Period isn’t learning anything at all. I know that this is because I have not found a groove yet in maintaining control of the class, and asking for full attention and respect from my students.
Anyone have any advice?

My kids were so disrespectful today. There is this great saying that we learn more from out failures than our successes, and if that’s the case I must have learned a lot today -_-. I felt quite mistreated, and then I asked myself, why am I taking it so personally? Here is what I’m up against:
